Ujjayi Pranayama Technique – The term Ujjayi Pranayama has derived from the Sanskrit prefixes “Uday” and “Zi”: Ujjayi (Ajay), which means “Vijay”, “One who is victorious”. Thus Ujjayi Pranayama means “victorious breath”.

Ujjayi breath, also known as throat breath or victory breath, is an integral part of every steady or asana flow routine and the foundation of other pranayama techniques. In the practice of yoga, an asana flow is a series of continuous, smoothly executed exercises, each exercise flowing into the next, while breathing, the primary motion of the body breath extends the area from the upper chest to the navel.
